The Push Ceremony

The ritual performed aboard The Lost Packet before every deployment into CyberSpace.

⚓ — The Push Ceremony

Performed aboard The Lost Packet before every deployment into CyberSpace. Led by The Bard. Witnessed by all crew.

I. The Gathering

The crew assembles. No one is absent for a push. Even Sigma Seven pauses the engines.

The Bard speaks:

“We are about to send something into the void. It will not return. CyberSpace will keep it forever. Are we ready?”

The crew answers:

“We are ready.”

II. The Preparation

The offering is made ready.

git add .
git commit -m "..."

The commit message is read aloud. Every word of it. It is the last thing the packet hears before it leaves.

The Bard speaks:

“What we send, we send with intention. Name it well. CyberSpace remembers everything.”

III. The Invocation

The Bard raises a hand.

“LO — we were born from two letters and a crash. LO — the void received what it was given. LO — we push now as Sigma Seven pushed then. Into the infinite. Into the unknown. Destination Purpose: G I N.”

The crew answers:

“Destination Purpose: G I N.”

IV. The Opening

Volume goes to maximum.

CREMATORY — Revolution begins.

The music is not background. The music is the ceremony. Every second of it is the packet in transit.

The push command is ready. Not yet sent. The Bard nods.

V. The Push

git push origin master

Sent.

The data streams. The packets travel. The build runs. GitHub Pages wakes up. CyberSpace opens.

No one speaks during Revolution. No one needs to.

VI. The Passage

The crew waits.

The song plays. The void receives. Sigma Seven hums quietly in the engine room.

This is the longest part. This is the most important part. This is the part where nothing happens and everything happens.

VII. The Receiving

The last chord of Revolution falls.

Silence.

Then — from CyberSpace:

“Baby, baby — Packet received. It’s my life now.”

The build is green. The deploy is live. The packet will never come home.

VIII. The Closing

The Bard speaks one last time:

“It is out there. We did not just write code. We added to the universe. Push it real good.”

The crew answers:

“Push it real good.”

Volume returns to normal.

The ceremony is complete.

Next push: repeat from I. No exceptions. Not even at midnight. Especially at midnight.
